Sony/Ericsson teams up with Sagem in low end market
Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications L.P. announced that Sagem Communications will produce S/E branded low cost mobile phone handsets.
According to the Swedish manufacturer, they chose Sagem for it's quality and performance. S/E also opened an office, dedicated to low-ends only, in Cergy, France - hometown of Sagem.
It will be quite interesting to see how this works out, especially considering Motorola reported losses in the first quarter in their low-cost market phone business. Still this should be good news for our traders on gsmX - Nokia 1100 and 1600 series, together with Motorola's C series are long time leaders of our trading floor - and competition can only bring in better prices for us.

Jim Bjarkeback, Webcom LTD @ 04:14 GMT, Apr 10This is a strategic misstake to have a joint venture with Sagem, misstakes like this has ericsson made before, it was in the end of 1996, when Ericsson bought british phone manufacturer Orbitel, and started to sell there product under the ericsson brand, and it was the start for the downturn that time!
Stuart van Ree, Corebusiness BV. @ 11:06 GMT, Apr 06Let's hope they will produce also a wifi low-end model.
Ademola Kolawole, Emsee Solutions Inc. @ 09:28 GMT, Apr 03it feels good to note that the two mobile phone giants can finally synergise to produce better result. only the best is expected from them with their low-end products & prices.
