iPhone stock clearance in UK and Germany

April 15, 2008

Mobile Today is reporting a price drop of £100 for the trendy phone.

The wholesale price of the 8Gb version of the Apple iPhone has been steadily dropping in our trading floor - from around £280 at the beginning of the year to some £240 lately. It has also been the #1 traded handset for more than 6 months - and it seems that the trend will continue.

The German operator T-Mobile announced last week a price drop to just €99 (£78) and today O2 announced a special offer, where the 8Gb lifestyle phone will be priced at £169 at least till June. The 16Gb version will not be affected by this.

This will make iPhone a lot cheaper in Europe than it is in the US, which is very uncommon in this market. The price drop is most likely related to the imminent launch of a 3G version of the cellphone.
