US consumers are set for increased choice with Cingular's recent announcement that the company is set to significantly expands it 3G coverage. The company's recent announcement will mean that the US mobile broadband network will stretch from San Francisco to the east coast of New York,

 and from Chicago to Dallas – ensuring that 3G access will be available in the top 100 major cities within the U.S. over the coming year.


3G technology has revolutionized the traditional usage of cellphones, allowing consumers to view video clips, download files and full Internet access, all of which are fast becoming the modern trappings now expected as standard on cellular handsets.


Cingular Wireless is the largest wireless carrier in the United States, serving 58.7 million customers. But with the recent announcement by AT&T, will see Cingular, which is owned by BellSouth, join with AT&T to create one global communications company, it will be an interesting year for US consumers.
